Education Article published on 15 June 2020 , Updated on 15 June 2020

Following the Quantum Future Academy in 2019, a travelling French-German programme organised jointly by the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie, Université de Strasbourg, Université de la Sarre and Université Paris-Saclay at the end of August 2019, a new edition will take place in 2020 at the European level – Quantum Future Academy Europe – in Berlin from November 1st to November 7th, 2020.

A one-week academy on quantum technologies, the course is open to Bachelor’s and Master’s students from all over Europe, offering them the opportunity to discover the connection between quantum physics and the development of new technologies all the while benefitting from an international and multidisciplinary network of researchers, entrepreneurs and students. While in last year’s edition, 30 students from France and Germany were able to visit the labs of the 4 organizing universities and to think about their future career, this autumn, 60 students from all over Europe will be expected in Berlin for a new programme.

The participants can expect exclusive insights into the most diverse areas of applied quantum technologies. These include visits of companies and laboratories, meetings with researchers and industry partners, interesting hands-on workshops and extensive networking opportunities. Of course, cultural activities in the cosmopolitan city of Berlin will be included.

Quantum Future Academy is an initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) and is organized in 2020 in cooperation with the European Quantum Flagship. Supported by numerous institutions in participating countries, including Université Paris-Saclay, the aim of this event is to support the training of a sustainable network of young European researchers in the future field of quantum technologies.

Applications for students enrolled in a French higher education institution are opene until June 17, 2020: https://www.universite-paris-saclay.fr/en/quantum-future-academy-europe
